Many days, I come in to work at 10 am. Today, thought I had to come in at 10, and was doing some cleaning up the house when at 8:55 I realized OH SHIT I'M SUPPOSED TO GO IN AT 9 TODAY. Luckily someone else was here to open the office up. But...
My gf's been at her mom's the past few days, helping out her mom since her dad died a few weeks ago. She had told me she was planning to come back sometime this afternoon.
My plan this morning was to get the house clean, and then at lunch get this one thing at this one store that I had told my gf I'd do but procrastinated on and drop it off at home. With the sudden departure for work, I left a couple minor cleaning things not yet done.
So I got to work and figured I'd add a little cleaning to my planned lunchtime stop at the store then home. But then my gf texted me a little bit ago that she's planning to head out from her mom's soon. It's about a 1:30-long drive. So now I gotta stick around at the office juuuust a bit longer so as to not be leaving right after I friggin got here, and race to the store and then cleaning before she gets home, so that when she arrives she's all happy to see a nice clean house. Because she's been working real hard helping her mom, it's the least I can do.
Just gotta run like Ferris!

Years ago I was late one time and I totally thought it was my day off until my wife asked me, then it all became clear. I just threw my clothes on, got my shit and left. I made it barely on time and nobody thought anything was up. I was in this frenzy of crazy rushing getting there and I thought it was strange nobody could tell anything odd had happened.
